Target Audience

This activity targets, but is not limited to, practicing nurses and radiologic technologist who desire to expand their knowledge and skills in vascular anatomy and physiology.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe normal venous anatomy of the superficial, deep and perforator veins in the lower extremities.
  • Discuss normal variants in venous anatomy of the superficial venous system.
  • Describe the relationship between the three types of veins and the three compartments in the lower extremity.
